Dr Bronner Liquid Castile Soap Review

Dr Bronner Liquid Castile Soap, natural soap, non toxic soap, natural beauty, green beauty

So I thought the best way to kick off the new wellness section on my blog would be to talk about the product in my life that I use most of now and that's Dr Bronner's Castile Liquid Soap.  If you are considering changing to a natural lifestyle or add some all natural products into you life then this post is for you...

I honestly can not tell you how much love I have for Dr Bronner's products but i'm going to try, here goes...

Who is Dr Bronner? -
Dr. Bronner’s was founded in 1948 by Emanuel Bronner, a third- generation master soapmaker from a German-Jewish soapmaking family.  Emanuel's story really is extraordinary, such an inspiring life he led.  You can read about it HERE and it really does make you understand and appreciate the company even more.  The brand is still completely family owned and run still to this day.

What is Castile Soap?
It is an all-vegetable based soap that contains no animal fats like most modern soaps do.  It is a product made from completely natural ingredients too.

If it's all natural, does that means it's not antibacterial?
This was always my fear but turns out I didn't have anything to worry about at all.  Here is an extract from Lisa Bronner's website (she is part of the Bronner family) explaining about it better that I could..."Terms such as “antibacterial” actually have carefully regulated definitions. “Antibacterial” means that the product must kill 99.9% of germs. The term “disinfectant” means that the product must kill a mere 99% of germs. Dr. Bronner’s soap is part of the “disinfectant” category."

So what can we use this for?
I guess aside from being such an amazing, fully natural product that actually works, the reason that Dr Bronner's Castile soap is so famous is because you can use it to clean just about everything.  On the bottle it says there are 18 uses for it but a quick google search and you will find at least a handful more.  The most important thing to remember is 'Dilute, Dilute' as the label reads.  It's a very pure concentrated product and for nearly every use you must dilute it, mostly always just with water.  Some of the most famous ways you can use it are for...Handwash, Body Wash, Shampoo, Tooth Cleaner, Laundry Cleaner, Makeup Brush Cleaner and House Cleaner.
And that's only a few options, it really is a wonder product.  For more uses and tips of how to dilute it for each use, have a look HERE

What is with all the words on the label?
I have to say I think the branding and labelling of all the products is so beautiful.  It's got such a simple and sleek design and I just adore the choice of colours they use too.  But if you look closely at the bottle when you buy it you will see teeny tiny writing all over every inch of the label, it's covered with Emanuel's original Moral ABC's.  It's such an interesting read and so many of his points I think are so spot on and valid today, obviously some of them are intense but I think it's important to note when and why they were written and to really appreciate a man who was so clearly ahead of his time and trying to really promote such a positive message to the masses.  I think its such a lovely touch to include the ABC's on the bottles still!

The castile soap comes in a handful of different scents too (no artificial ingredients though) I use this unscented baby version as I have such sensitive skin and I feel like my skin always deals better with no scent.  My skin has been so great with this though and I'm planning to try the lavender scent next to see if my skin is ok with that too.

I've been using this for making my own handwashes (I'll put my DIY recipe up soon) and as an all over body wash.  I can't tell you what a difference its made to my skin, for the first time in what feels like forever, I come out the shower and bath without my skin itching and flaking like mad, the way it normally does with supermarket body washes.

I really just love this product so much and I'm so happy I've found something that makes my skin feel good and makes me feel good too knowing that its not laden with nasty chemicals.

Also I just want to say how special I think this brand is.  Since starting my natural body and skin care journey its something that I'm seeing more and more of, the brands that I'm starting to use are not just making wonderful products but they are also doing really amazing, inspiring work in the world and no one seems to be doing more than Dr Bronner.

You can pick up a smaller bottle of the liquid castile like I have for about £5 and the bigger bottles for about £8, the prices really do vary just have a google around and see what you can find. (Because you dilute it, the bottles last for such a long time)

I bought mine from HERE and you can also get it HERE (and they do an even smaller size for around £2) You can also visit the official Dr Bronner website to buy it and get more information too.

I hope this review helped if you were looking for something like this.  Let me know if you love Dr Bronner too?

"1st: If not for me, who am I? Nobody!
2nd: Yet, if I’m only for me, what am I? Nothing!
3rd: If not now, when?!”
So begins Emanuel Bronner’s Moral ABC. The message is clear: We are responsible for ourselves but also each other, and as we grow, we must grow responsibly."
