TOYS - 100 Years of Iconic Toys*
"From Frisbees to Fisher Price, the evolution of the toy has been marked by innovations in design, technology and marketing, but these developments largely passed over the heads of children, who had just one thing on their minds: getting their hands on that latest must-have toy. And so nothing evokes emotion like rediscovering a cherished childhood toy. In Toys we have assembled one hundred toys and games that redefined play and photographed them like the marvels of design they are. Accompanied by text on each toy's success story, and crowned with an essay on the art of toy design by prolific writer and child development expert, Stevanne 'Dr Toy' Auerbach, this is a warm and insightful journey into the past, featuring familiar faces from Barbie to Buzz Lightyear and spanning the ingeniously simple to the jaw-droppingly complex. With new photography by Irish photographer, Kevin Fox"

This beautiful hard-backed book features iconic toys that span generations.  Each toy has a stunning photograph to accompany it and also has a little bit of text about the toy and some notable facts about it too, it gives you the year the toy was first released as well.

This book will be such a conversation starter in your house especially if you get it for over the Christmas period as without a doubt everyone who comes into your house will pick it up, flip through it and start claiming that a certain toy in it was The Best Toy Ever which will then encourage a um..hmm 'strong' debate from the rest of the room on how in actual fact it was this or that toy that was The Best Toy Ever.  I am speaking from experience here people, this book has sparked divides haha!

No, but seriously it is such a fun book and if you were a child of the 80s, 90s or early 00s specifically then I really do think you will so love reminiscing and being all nostalgic about your favourite toys from your childhood and all the memories they hold for you as I really did.

I have to say though, I know I'm making a bold statement but I'm pretty damn sure that Dream Phone was and is, the best toy ever made and thankfully it has pride of place in the book too.  By far my favourite game from when I was young, I remember literally coming to the end of it and being like 'right, lets play again, straight away' haha!

If your looking to pick up a really fun, unique and quirky gift for someone or yourself then I think this is definitely the book for you.  It will really make you smile!
