Book Review - Escape To The Riviera by Jules Wake

Escape To The Riviera* - Jules Wake
"Carrie Hayes has a job she enjoys and a perfectly nice boyfriend. She’s sorted. Isn’t she?
But Carrie’s life wasn’t always like this. As a young, wild drama student, she married fellow actor, Richard Maddox, after a whirlwind romance. Life back then was full of possibilities, but when Hollywood beckoned Richard, Carrie was left behind.  Now an A-list superstar, Richard’s life couldn’t be more different to Carrie’s, so when their paths cross in glamorous St Tropez, she can’t help but wonder what might have been.  But with lovely, sensible Alan in tow, Carrie knows she needs to do the right thing. The only problem is, Carrie and Richard never quite got round to getting a divorce…"

Ok, so can we start off by just taking a minute to gaze at this beautiful pretty! I don't know what it is but lately I think book covers have been upping their game so much, if you take a peek back at my last few reviews the covers have been so stunning.  I love an ebook just as much as well every other ebook lover but you really can't beat the beauty of a real life book cover can you?  Anyway on to the main event, the actual review....

So the story centres around the main character Carrie and her life.  The story chronicles her reconnection with her estranged husband, the-one-that-got-away (Cue Katy Perry song) Richard and how she manages to deal with all the drama that brings.  And its about her learning how to balance what she thought her life would be and what it is now.

The story is so sweet, light and funny too.  You will be rooting for Carrie all the way to the end. I think one of the biggest parts of the story that most people will feel a connection to is the crossroads that Carrie finds herself at, the sort of confusion over where her life will go next, the what-ifs in life.  I loved that rather than making the character freak out the author Jules wrote with so much positivity and showed that these moments that we all have in life can be a real new happy beginning rather than unhappy ending.

The rest of Carrie's family in the book were also stand out characters for me and helped bring a lot into the story as well.  And honestly get ready, as you are going to totally fall for Richard... such a perfect leading man.

This is a little piece of happiness in book form.  It has sun, its set in St Tropez.  It has glamour, again it's set in St Tropez and it has romance, the lost love type romance, which all you fellow Romcom lovers will know is the best type right? So basically you should just put this in your beach bag right now as this will be your perfect poolside companion.

I really enjoyed this book and think so many of you will too as it's just so perfect for what a lot of people are looking for at this time of year.

And some super exciting news...I have an interview coming up on my blog tomorrow with Jules, who is the author of this book and you will get to hear more about the story and what inspired her to write the book.  I can't wait to share it with you....

You can buy the book on Wordery and get free delivery too and remember and check back tomorrow for the interview....
