I had heard so much about NYX's Soft Matte Lip Creams so I was beyond happy when my mama bought me a few for my Christmas.
I found it so hard to tell what the shades were like as they seem to show up really, really differently on every person that wears them. I know most lipsticks will have a bit of a difference in shade on different skin tones but mostly they do look the same colour but these seem to morph onto a completely different tone.
This one is called Stockholm and I love it. I think its such a wearable everyday shade and its just so comfortable and lovely to wear.
As you can see in the photos above I paired it with a sort of grungy, rusty, smoky eye look and I love how it kept my lip looking natural but not completely nude.
In the tube it looks sort of brown but on my lips it turns into a peachy pink colour. It is such a soft warm shade and I think it really suits my pale complexion.
The consistency of the formula is so smooth and velvety on your lips. It literally just glides on and makes your lips look really soft. The lipstick is very matte but doesn't dry your lips out at all. It also isn't as stuck to your lips as a liquid lipstick is, if you know what I mean. When I wear a liquid lipstick it doesn't budge from my lips all day and I have to remove it at night to get it off my lips whereas with this it does just wear off your lips and you do need to re-apply throughout the day, but it has a pretty average lasting time and it doesn't come off too quickly.
I know a lot of people compare these Soft Matte Lip Creams to liquid lipsticks and while I do think the really strong pigmented colour is just as good as a liquid lipstick, I don't think the formula apart from the matte texture is that similar. I think these are more like a really matte, velvety lipstick.
I am such a fan of the ones that I have tried so far in this range and I can't wait to show you the other colour I got too.
