Book Review-Amy & Roger's Epic Detour
'Amy Curry is having a terrible year. Her mother has decided to move all the way across the country and needs Amy to drive their car from California to the East Coast. There's just one problem: since the death of her father, Amy hasn't been able to get behind the wheel of a car. Enter Roger, the son of an old family friend, who turns out to be unexpectedly cute...and dealing with some baggage of his own. Meeting new people and coming to terms with her father's death were not part of Amy's plans for the road trip. But then neither was driving on the Loneliest Road in America, seeing the Colorado Mountains, visiting diners, dingy motels and Graceland. But as they drive, and she grows closer to Roger, Amy finds that the people you least expected are the ones you need the most and that sometimes you have to get lost in order to find your way home.'
I love books so much, seriously all my life I have fallen in love with more books that I will ever remember. They sum up times in my life, every book for me is filled with my own memories, not just of the story itself but of what I was like when I read the book, where I was, who I was with, what age I was. To me that is what makes books so important, they are like little time capsules every time you look at a long forgotten cover hidden away at the back of an old cupboard, it not only makes you remember the beautiful story inside but also of that moment of your life when you read it.
That's why I decided to start doing book reviews on my blog a little while ago, I wanted to try and capture my love for certain books in writing and pass on to anyone who reads my blog why I love them, in the chance that you too might fall just a little bit in love with them as well. But the thing that I've come to realise over the past few months or so of doing these reviews is that sometimes when I love a book so much I just can't really put it into words why. Sometimes I just want to put the title of a book here with the words 'JUST READ IT' scrawled across it because honestly it feels like that is all I can say, its just too special for me to try and describe why you should read it and isn't that what makes our favourite books our favourites because its this indescribable thing that they hold over us?
But I understand that such simple statements don't make for the best book blogger so I always try and explain the best I can why I think you might love this book but when I came to writing the review for 'Amy & Roger's Epic Detour' I found myself lost for words again because quite frankly I loved this book so much I just don't know what to say about it but here's what I came up with....
I loved this book because it was about a roadtrip and America and music and feelings and emotions and love and figuring out who you are. No seriously, that's all I'm going to tell you about it because its just such a special story, its the perfect mix of everything and I really, really think you will love this book. You know how good it is, once I had finished the story and was just blown away by its awesomeness I went back and wrote down all my favourite quotes from it, that's when you know its that type of good.
So all that's really left for me to do is end where I started and say JUST READ THIS BOOK. Sometimes there isn't much to say about your favourite books because there special to you for all the reasons I said above, who you are, where you were in your life when you read them and what the story means to you and as much as you can try and explain the why's and how's of your love for it, sometimes your better just saying
'I loved it because I just did, and I really, really hope you do too'!
It might not make the most exciting book review but at least you'll know its probably the most honest one you've read, right haha!
You can buy the book on Amazon
Let me know what you think if you've read it too?
