Are you looking for one of those books where you say to yourself I'll just read till the end of the chapter and by the end of three chapters later you are trying to convince yourself that you don't actually have to get up that early in the morning, who cares if it's already 2am, you might as well keep reading? Well if that sounds like you, you are looking at the right book.
Giving you self-inflicted insomnia aside Accidents Happen by Louise Millar is awesome.
To be honest that's sort of all I need to write because if you like thrillers then there is no way you won't love this but to anyone else who may not be clicking that amazon link just yet, here is a little brief intro to the book.
The two main characters in the book are Kate and her son Jack. Kate feels she is cursed because her life has been full of bad luck. After the murder of her husband in London, Kate and Jack move to Oxford to be near her In-Laws.
Kate's life is controlled by her obsession for statistics which she uses to influence her every thought and action and it completely takes over her whole world. She uses her knowledge of all these statistics to try and help her protect her son to the best of her ability.
When she meets an oxford professor in a coffee shop her life begins to change as he helps her regain her confidence although his methods to help her are somewhat strange to say the least.
Like all good thrillers 'Accidents Happen' keeps you guessing and wondering what is going on throughout the book right up until the pretty shocking and gripping twist (because all good books have to have a twist, right? It's practically the law)
It is completely worth the wait to find out exactly what is going on though, it really gets in your head and keeps you wondering what's around the next page.
This is the first book I have read from Louise Miller, but it's my birthday on Saturday(Whoop Whoop! Go shortie its your birthday!) and I have already asked my Mama to get me her first book The Playdate for one of my presents.
I love her style of writing and how intricate the details are of the story, I can't wait to read more of her books and as a bonus side note, she has wrote for Marie Claire too, which I would LOVE to do one day!
I was lucky enough to interview Louise and got to ask her some questions about the book and the story behind it. I don't know about you but I love to hear about books from the author before I read them, its kinda like the book version of 'extras' on a dvd, right?
Let me know what you think and if Accidents Happen sounds like something you would love to read then click HERE to buy it for £5.03 and you can also get it on the Kindle (or other devices) for £3.95
Enjoy the Interview!
